Overview
Punjab Mass transit Authority was tasked with creating and maintaining a safe, efficient, and comfortable urban transportation system for the masses. To tackle this issue, GoP partnered with LMKT to ensure that feeder routes of the metro bus projects in Lahore and Multan are operating at optimal levels. The LMKT-provided security solution is aimed at providing commuters with a secure and hassle-free journey.
The centrally controlled video surveillance system not only safeguards passengers but also helps in the quick restoration of traffic in case of an emergency or a breakdown of the service.
Challenge
With a population of more than 11 million, which is growing at an annual rate of 3.5%, Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab, is the second largest city in Pakistan. But the public transport network in Lahore was, for the longest time, unsafe, under-developed, fragmented, inadequately managed, and highly inefficient. Therefore, residents preferred using their cars or motorcycles to getting a bus, resulting in an increase in transport-related problems like traffic congestion, road rage, harassment, accidents, road robberies, etc.
Under the old public transportation system, many public transport vehicles, especially wagons, operated without a valid license and did not follow the authorized route. These vehicles offered little comfort and security to their passengers. Operators routinely overfilled these privately owned vehicles at the cost of passengers’ safety and comfort. As a result, more and more people opted to buy their own vehicles as a relatively economical and safe mode of transportation. This increase in the number of vehicles negatively impacted the city’s road network and deteriorated the overall quality of life in the city. Lahore needed a public transport system that would entice the people into taking the bus instead of their private vehicles for the daily commute.

To tackle this issue, PMA partnered with LMKR to provide, maintain, and operate integrated security, communication network, network monitoring, KPI monitoring, and helpdesk solution for Lahore Metrobus Feeder Route.
Our solution is providing commuters with a secure, hassle-free journey and monitoring the KPIs of bus operator to achieve the required performance of the Mass Transit system.
Our solution is not only safeguarding passengers, centralized monitoring of the complete Feeder bus operations and Infrastructure but also helps in quick restoration of traffic in case of an emergency or a breakdown of the service.
